Act Profile

Alex - Guitar and Voice

Alex is one of the rare guitarists/singers who can dip in and out of so many different musical styles. Much more than your average singer/guitarist, he also has a vast repertoire of solo guitar pieces from Classical to Latin and Jazz. Just look at the repertoire list on the right to get an idea of how wide his scope is.

Alex prides himself on offering entertainment that is tailored for your needs; whether it's solo Classical guitar in the background, jazz guitar at a dinner party or singing some classic songs for a wedding, his playing covers so much ground to help shape any event.

After graduating with a BA in Music Performance in 2007, Alex has since spent two years touring the world as a solo artist and as part of an orchestra aboard a 5 star cruise line. Currently living in Surrey, he now works as a professional session musician, teacher and an accomplished solo artist, performing in a number of 5 star hotels in and around London.

Alex has played recent events at the Savoy Hotel and was booked in 2014 for a run of shows at Gatwick airport.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks for your energy and professionalism in helping deliver a great fun Friday Valentine event at Gatwick last week.
The client was really happy with the day and Alex Kennedy - thanks so much for your energy on the day - especially as it was so blooming early - you were great!

Dear Alex
I write to say how much I enjoyed your music on Saturday. It was just right for the occasion, familiar to everybody, the volume loud enough for it to be enjoyed but not too loud to make conversation difficult. You didnít hear my speech in which I thanked you and said that although it was meant to be background music, it was too good to just heard, but was well worth listening to. Judging by the number of guests who approached you for a chat, Iím sure they all felt the same.
With thanks again and best wishes,

-Jules Alterman

versatile is the word for Alex...from background music to all out dance floor fillers he seems to be able to do it all with ease.

-Gemma Stevens

Identified exactly the right repertoire (jazz standards and American songbook) for the event and played immaculately. Also very friendly and charming guy. A big hit with us and our guests and no hesitation in recommending him

-Lesley and Nigel

-Deborah Hancock

Alex is amazing. I saw him play at a drinks reception last week in London and he can really play.

-Warren

Alex played classical guitar and also pop music at our 20th wedding anniversary party at the Savoy Hotel. He was very good - it was so nice that he could play both classical and pop. Our guests commented afterwards that he was really very good. We were extremely pleased - thank you so much Alex. We would recommend him immediately - he is polite and accomodating and flexible. We kept changing the times he would play but he didn't mind - he just went along with everything and created the perfect atmosphere.

"Dearest Alex and Shake-out,
You guys were absolutely wonderful!!
Alex- your arrangement of our wedding music, and solo work at our synagogue was heartfelt and helped create the romantic atmosphere we were looking for! THANK-YOU.
Later, at the reception, and even later with SHAKE-OUT you guys put everyone in the mood for a great party- which it was!! Loads of dancing, great music- and you guys put in 110%.
YOU ROCK!!
From the still smiling Bride and toe tapping Groom,
Sharon and Michael" Wedding Aug 2011

"Hi Alex,
Myself and Sarah would just like to say a great big thank you for your guitar playing at our wedding in Cobham on the 21st of February. You really helped to make our day such a memorable one. The amount of people who said your playing went so well with the occasion and venue makes us really happy that we booked you. Also wanted to thank you for taking all our song requests on board and playing them so well! We would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone.
Daniel and Sarah Connelly" Wedding 21st February 2010

Former Band Master

"From January 2008 to May 2008, I was Alex Kennedy's Band Leader in the HAL Cats on Holland American's Ms Westerdam. For those 5 months, Alex was such a great asset to the group.

He is a strong reader (comfortable with all genres of music), a great jazz improviser, and a solid team player. There were several times when the band needed a leader and he would step into the position. He was also very comfortable singing backing vocals with the lead singer, as well as singing songs on his own. Alex was very prompt with arriving on time, prepared, well dressed and always maintained a very positive attitude. We had many guest entertainers to accompany and Alex prepared his music before the rehearsal and played great shows. Overall, I believe he will be a strong asset to any company or any event.

Sincerely,

Jamie Reed"
