Andrea Vicari Band
A top London group combining the best of jazz with some soulful modern sax sounds and the best of Latin Music.
Andrea Vicari (piano) was born in Miami (Florida) and grew up in Birmingham (England). Other employers have included GRP recording artist, Phil Bent; jazz warrior David-Jean Baptiste with whom she recorded her first commercially released CD; and the all-women band "Birds" led by Kathy Stobart. She played a successful season at London's sadly defunct jazz club "The Bass Clef" with the late great American saxophone innovator, Eddie Harris, broadcasting live on JazzFM radio; and gigged with the US trumpet legend Art Farmer. She plays with the all girl group "Sister Sadie" and the "Ladies Excuse me Orchestra"
Clare Hirst (Tenor Sax) has a had a successful career in pop music . Having written and played on many recordings with artists such as David Bowie (Live Aid -yes the big one), The Communards, Mica Paris, Maxi Priest and The Bellestars (Gold Disc).The Bellestars compilation album Belle-issima is out on Edsel Records MEDCD 747 featuring Clare in the role that made her a star of TV's "Never Mind the Buzzcocks". Also out soon is a DVD of "Live-Aid" which has Clare's performance with David Bowie on it.
