With a background in jazz, Briana performs a stunning groove & jazz laid back set of music, perfect for easy listening, chilled functions. A versatile performer and musician, she is also an energetic and spontaneous performer who brings the room to life with her interpretation of the pop/rock/funk tunes that we all love to dance to..
Australian-bred Briana is an intriguing artist who moulds herself to a wide variety of contexts and genres. With a thirst for diversity, Briana has a background in Jazz, Pop and Latin, but has found herself performing in a wide variety of genres including Dance, Disco, Country and Rock. Studying in Sydney, New York and Canada with some world class teachers and mentors (Becca Stevens, Gretchen Parlato, Dave Douglas, Guillermo Klein, Aaron Goldberg, Kurt Elling), Briana also has a unique flair for composing both beautiful and catchy original music. She has released two internationally distributed albums of original compositions both recorded in New York. Her debut album was nominated for best vocal jazz album in the 2012 Australian Bell Awards and features internationally renowned jazz musicians Aaron Goldberg, Gregory Hutchinson and Reuben Rogers.
Briana has performed on the international stage at jazz festivals such as the 2013 Chilpo International Jazz Festival (South Korea 2013), The Melbourne International Jazz Festival (AUS 2014) and the Hemnes Jazz Festival (Norway 2015). She has also performed at arts festivals such as Sydney VIVID Festival (AUS 2014) and Urbanscapes (KL 2013). She has toured South East Asia, (Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh and Singapore), Europe (Norway, Vienna, Slovakia, Poland) and Australia, performing at smaller music clubs along with larger venues.
Briana graduated from the Australian Institute of Music (BMUS) in 2008 and was awarded an ‘Artstart’ grant by the Australia Council of the Arts in 2010 to establish her music career. In 2012, Briana again received a ‘Skills and Development’ grant from the Australia Council of the arts to work closely with New York musicians to compose her second album. Briana was a finalist in the 2012 National Jazz Awards for Voice and was selected as one of six vocalists from around the world to attend the 2012 Banff International Jazz and Creative Music Workshop in Canada (directed by internationally acclaimed trumpeter Dave Douglas (USA)). A co-founder of a new international multimedia arts collaboration called ‘The Wires Project’, Briana worked side by side with Sydney pianist Gavin Ahearn, bassist Jonathan Zwartz and drummer Nic Cecire on a two week tour of Asia, June 2013, performing at jazz clubs and schools in Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh and Singapore.
Briana performs a beautiful jazz and groove set with a varied line up (from duo to quartet, depending on the venue and client requirements). Briana also has a unique flair for interpreting and performing the great pop/funk/dance covers, which she performs with her party band (trio/quartet/quintet/Sextet).
With a hunger to create new art, travel to unseen places and achieve her very ambitious goals, the sky seems to be the limit for where Briana’s creativity can take her. With two self released albums now being distributed in Australia and Japan, Briana’s musical endeavors have vastly expanded on an International front over the past few years and she continues to develop and blossom as an intriguing performer, singer and composer.

Briana has a young woman’s voice; high, bright, clean. It’s an attractive instrument, and she uses it accurately and judiciously, delivering her lyrics persuasively. Of course, her work is superbly enhanced by the musicians surrounding her.”
Adrian Jackson, Rhythms 2011
“Her songs routinely thwart expectations of where they might go next … Briana's lighter-than-air voice drifts and floats, even as it tackles her songs’ harmonic twists.”
John Shand, The Sydney Morning Herald 2011
"Her originals are advanced in structure and harmonic content but Briana's potent expression gives the songs an accessibility, partly because they recount experiences of everyday life and partly because of her clarity, pitch and phrasing."John Mcbeath, The Australian 2011
"When fiction comes to life" is an apt expression, for this music has evolved from Bri's ideas into something real in the moment it was being made. And when Bri delivers her versions of well known songs these too have her own stamp. Once again Bri's treatments are not radical but perhaps more impressively they are intensely personal. And that to me is one of the great joys of being around jazz and improvising music - to hear something or find something which unfolds naturally in its own way on its own terms." - Matt McMahon, East Side Radio 2011.
'With influences ranging from Joni Mitchell and James Taylor to painters Rothko and Picasso, Briana's new sound is bound to be a heady brew." Sydney Morning Herald, 2012.
