Wendy's Quartet have worked together for almost 5 years.
Wendy Kirkland (piano and voice) is the product of an incredibly musical family who is largely self taught; well, at least for jazz. Achieving her ABRSM piano grades during her childhood left her with a choice of direction; she chose jazz. Her voice has attracted comments such as "lucid warmth" (The JazzMann) and "vocal acrobatics" (Bebop Spoken Here). She has been a regular on the UK jazz circuit since 2002 and has been praised highly praised by fellow musicians Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Sue McCreeth and Roger Beaujolais for her innate musicianship. Her music has been played on 20+ worldwide radio stations including Clare Teal's BBC Radio 2 show.
Pat Sprakes cut his jazz teeth with Tony Kofi, Darius Brubeck and has performed for Robben Ford.
As a guitarist, his biggest influences are Wes Montgomery and George Benson, and he has a great love of latin rhythms. He is an excellent accompanist as well as a clear and melodic soloist.
Paul Jefferies is hugely entertaining player with an inventive, lyrical approach he is well known for his superb sense of time and rhythmic playing. He can be seen all around the UK performing with an array of ensembles and luminaries including Tommaso Starace, Tina May, Nicolas Meier and Art Themen: he's a member of GYPSY FIRE, the Frank Hockney Project, the Ben Holder Quartet/Quintet and his own chord-less trio TANTRUM.
Since graduating from the City of Leeds College of Music in 1988, Steve has enjoyed a varied and rewarding career as a performer, composer and teacher.
As a drummer and percussionist, he has played in many countries around the world and toured extensively throughout the UK. He has been involved in about every conceivable musical setting, from orchestral through to jazz, musical theatre and pop.
