Act Profile

The Consulates

The Consulates are a 5-piece covers band from London, concentrating on the 70s pop, dance and rock sound with a touch of 60s, Motown, and contemporary material thrown in to complete our big dance sound.

The Consulates were formed in 2006 by singer Matt Tombs and guitarist Doug Douglas. A consummate and energetic front man with the ability to captivate an audience and sing over a wide range of styles, Matt has sung in a variety of successful bands since 1995, performing up to a dozen gigs a month. Doug's guitar playing has over the years taken him on tours of the UK, Europe and the USA. Experienced musicians Glyn Owen and Jeff Squibb joined soon after on drums and bass respectively and to complete the band, keyboard player Andy Lambert was recruited. Glyn has played drums with the Mike Flowers Pops (of past xmas no 1 hit cover Wonderwall, no less) during which time his touring career climaxed with an appearance at Wembley Arena. Similarly, Jeff and Andy's outstanding musicianship has taken them through a variety of bands, tours and recording contracts.

The band cover the songs of artists such as David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, The Faces, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music, Cockney Rebel, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and The Osmonds (yes that's right, ladies and gentlemen!) with an emphasis on dance -ability to get their audience moving.

The Consulates can adapt their set to your liking. Our standard set options are as follows:

2x 45 minute sets
2x 60 minute sets

You may decide that you wish for the band to play continuously for your occasion; this and any other options can be discussed with the band prior to the event.

The band are available for hire throughout the year. Rates depend on the event, the location and the set required. Please call the office for more deatails on this great band.
