Cabasa - Percussionist

Andy is a trained musician who has been playing drums and percussion professionally for over 20 years. Andy has a wealth of experience playing live percussion with DJs and bands across the UK at festivals, nightclubs, bars and private events.

Andy is available to play live percussion either alongside your chosen DJ, or solo with his own PA and backing music. He can play along with any style of music adding a live element and creating that unmistakable party atmosphere at your event. As you can see from the videos and pictures, Andy plays top of the range eye catching silver sparkle congas and can also provide lighting to add to the visual spectacle!

Over recent years Andy has worked alongside internationally renowned DJs including the godfather of UK House and Garage Grant Nelson, renown producer and DJ Richard Earnshaw, Steve Taylor (iCulture), Junior (Kinky Malinky, Citylife), Grant Richards (Kinky Malinki), Mitch Tilson & Jack Disley (SoulMuch, SoulDevine), Pete Isaac (Jelly Jazz) and a number of international DJs including Matt D and Gerardo Smedile (Italy), The Checkup (Germany).

As well as playing with DJs, Andy has also played for a number of international artists including Eddie Manion (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), Miss Emily (Canadian singer songwriter), Shahab Tiam (Iranian pop star), Diane Shaw (UK Soul artist) and Lew Kirton (Legendary American soul singer).

Whether it's improvising alongside a DJ, playing his own self-contained solo show, or playing with bands, Andy can definitely add the wow factor to your event and deliver a slick and professional performance.

New for 2018!!!! - As well as playing acoustic percussion, Andy has also added an electronic percussion instrument to his set up which enables him to play 400 drum and percussion sounds from one unit! This is a great option for international gigs, events where parking is not available and/or space is very tight, as it is much more portable than the acoustic set up but allows him to recreate the sound of all the instrument in his acoustic set up and many more.

I couldn't recommend Andy more highly. We booked Andy for our wedding, to accompany a DJ and play along with various genres of music. He just added a whole new level to the occasion which set the night off perfectly. Completely professional and accommodating from booking, through the wedding and even afterwards. A genuinely lovely guy, who always has a smile on his face and it is clear he loves his work. I would book him again in a heartbeat, for any occasion, and probably will in the future!

I thought Andy did an excellent job from start to finish. Andy was incredibly professional. As soon as I sent a booking request email he was straight back to me with confirmations, fees and hours. Andy was exactly what we'd hoped. He did his prep, checked the sort of music we liked and the mood we wanted to create (chilled, happy and fun). And on the night he got it bang on, adding to the mood and enjoyment of the party without trying to be the total centre of attention, like some DJs do. Don't get me wrong, he's great to watch and we all did for a lot of the time, but you could also just enjoy the sound and chat and chill. The crowd was mostly late 40s - 50s in age, but there were some younger and some older and there was a tune for everyone. Andy is very professional, arrived and set up quickly with little fuss - very self contained. He interacted with our guests really well. He's a mighty fine percussionist - we had forgotten we had two professional musicians amongst our friends and they were very impressed. I would happily book him again (although I don't want another birthday with a nought on it for a while so I need to find a different reason for a party).

Andy entertained my guests at my 60th birthday party and also as after dinner entertainment at an event I held earlier in the year . The music , energy and novelty of having a percussionist went down exceptionally well , excellent value for money and he covers a wide range of music , something to cover all tastes ! From start to finish he was fantastic, he set up quickly and efficiently and was ready to perform straight away.
