First Class Swing
First Class Swing
As seen on BBC TV "Children in Need", Leicester Square Theatre plus "Help for Heros" with Dame Vera Lynne, TV's "Military Wives" concert tour and for dancing at Blackpool's famous Tower Ballroom!
Featuring Simone, from the later days of the Ivy Benson Orchestra
An exciting night with hits you'll know and love from the Swing era - Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller through to vocals like "Mr Bojangles" & "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" - plus foot stomping "Jools Holland" style Jazz.
"They swing like crazy - Superb !" Sheila Tracy (B.B.C.)
"...A celebration of classic Swing !" (Telegraph)
As seen on BBC TV's "Children in Need"]
This show boasts multi-instrumentalists and singers lead by Chris & Simone. Chris, who's varied career has taken him from Jazz festivals to Top of the Pops, uses his experience gained in playing and writing for Glenn Miller's Brother (Herb Miller) to bring the songs to life. Saxophonist and vocalist, Simone, has performed with the New Squadroniares and played Lead Alto Saxophone in the later days of the Ivy Benson show band.
First Class Swing have played at a private party for Vera Lynne. They were the band on the Military Wives 2013 Tour and have performed on TV with the Military Wives. They are also booked on a 110 date tour in 2014 called Bugle Boys which celebrates the life and times of Glenn Miller.
First Class Swing have been very busy in 2014 with events in commemoration of the First World War and have invested in military uniforms for events of this nature. Of course the option is also there for them to play in evening dress or more casual clothing.

Booked First Class Swing for a charity tea dance in Wivenhoe on the 9th August and they were fantastic. We've had lots of enquiries asking when we are going to hold such an event again- everyone was up dancing!
Thank you for making this a great day

Thank you for keeping my details on file. The event went really well with over 350 people in the venue. I found the band to be very cooperative and it was good working with them.

Saw your show at Kings Lynn last night; to say we were pleasantly surprised would be putting it mildly. Purchased your CD so can listen again and again, thanks for a great evening

What a great night! Great music, talented musicians and vocalists, original arrangments... We can't wait for a return visit by the band to Northamptonshire- please make it soon. In the meantime we'll have to make do with the Album we've just ordered! PS Just how does Chris play keyboard and Trumpet at the same time? (From an envious brass player!)

We were lucky enough to see this wonderful band on the 27th March 2008. A combination of brilliant musicians and stunning arrangements left us wanting more at the end of a magical evening.

Fabulous band, really enjoyed the evening, and the versatility of all the band members.

I was sceptical at first that they could come up with the goods with only 7 players, but WOW did they deliver!!! The controlled tight and virtuosic ensemble playing was without peer. Great arrangements from Chris Smith, the whole band showed its multifarious diversity in every swinging number... and where did Stephen Davies learn to do all that stuff?! I commend them to the house! Alexander Testbridge, Cleethorpes

Hi, thoroughly enjoyed the concert tonight. It was the best evening we have had for many years. You all took my wife and me down memory lane and made us feel like teenagers again. I wanted to jive but the wife felt embarrassed. Thank you for all the hard work you put in.
