Peter the Piano Player
Peter's boogie woogie piano talents were pinpointed in 1999 when he was asked to co-open Jool's Holland's Jam House in Birmingham. In that same year SONY asked him to travel with them to Seville in Spain to entertain them with his cool cocktail jazz following the release of his first album and then he was commissioned to create his first rock 'n' roll and 'Duelling Pianists' show for theatres.
In the Millenium Year American Express approached Peter to bring a show band to London's Grosvenor House Hotel to entertain their top clients, this spawned The Peter Gill Band - a strictly 'for special occasions only' band with a line up of musicians taken from the country's 'most gifted' list.
Peter is effectively on constant national and international tour and has been for over ten years. Performing as a solo artist, with his renowned jazz trio, with the 'Duelling Pianists' show and more recently with the nation's favourite rock 'n' roll band STATE 51 in the theatre show 'Let The Good Times Roll'.
He has performed for and with some of the country's most notable names including Shirley Bassey, Catherine Jenkins, Brian May, Mike d'Abo, Jools Holland, Steve Coogan and Anita Dobson.
Another of Peter's touring theatre productions is 'An Evening with the Humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer'. Premiering at The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal in Cumbria in January 2009 this two man show reminds audiences of the songs and sketches of America's top two satirists of the 1950s and 1960s.
In 2010 and 2011 he will be seen throughout the country taking the lead role in 'Killer - The Jerry Lee Lewis Story' .
2011 sees Peter staging yet another new national tour, this time his one-man show entitled 'The Golden Age of Musical Satire (100 years of taking the p***). 90 minutes of classic comedy and satirical songs made famous originally by such names as Noel Coward, George Formby, Monty Python, Allan Sherman, Victoria Wood et al.
In 2019 Pete has a new touring show which takes the audience on a whistle stop tour of the hits of rock and pop's greatest piano legends: Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Georgie Fame, Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Dr John, Professor Longhair, Chas and Dave .
