Act Profile

The WonderWhys

The WonderWhys continue their meteoric rise to prominence this year, with a busy and exciting schedule to look forward to. Diligence and attention to detail in the rehearsal studios has really paid off, and The WonderWhys are able to deliver an eclectic choice of explosive covers with punch, poise and passion, in a fun-filled set that goes from strength to strength. Equally at home with all your favourite rock, funk, indie. pop and party tunes from the last 5 decades, The WonderWhys cast Midas rays of funk-tinged sunshine upon everything they touch, and strike a natural rapport with any audience. “Lazer-beam” 3 part harmonies provide the icing on the cake to a slick and accomplished stageshow, that will entice and excite your senses.
Working with Arctic Monkeys, Pulp and Reverend & The Makers’ producer Alan Smyth in Sheffield in February bore fruit in the shape of live recordings which really captured the essence, energy and versatility of the WonderWhys’ live performance. An accompanying video to their slant on DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” – also produced by Alan Smyth – further cements this notion too, and, with over 80 thousand Youtube Hits in just a few months has propelled The WonderWhys into the spotlight.
Upcoming highlights this year include supporting The Happy Mondays at Christmas!
Last summer they played the biggest beer festival in the UK – Springfest – at The Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) in London, to around 5 thousand revellers.
A support slot at The Avenue in Chesterfield sees The WonderWhys warming up for 90’s Indie Darlings – Dodgy – in the UK’s largest Independent Venue. The Rock The Boat Cruise in the Summer has The WonderWhys sailing into the sunset – rubbing shoulders with the likes of Suzi Quatro, Slade and The Animals. Late Summer also has The WonderWhys appearing on BBC Three Reality TV Series “Don’t Tell The Bride” as the wedding band of choice. Finally, they return to Alexandra Palace to play The London Fireworks Display in early November.
Suitable for any function, event, wedding or party, The WonderWhys also go out as an acoustic duo, and play a completely different set to the full band set, barring 3 or 4 songs (Full Set lists of both available on request) – offering an upbeat and fun, yet relaxed alternative to the energy of our 4 piece set, complete with close vocal harmonies. This can be particularly useful if you need, for example, some music on the afternoon of a wedding – in between the ceremony and speeches. The WonderWhys can also provide a full DJ Service for any kind of music you require, so have, in effect the full inhouse wedding package, to save clients having to go through the costly process of booking several DJ’s and acts separately.
In December 2018 The Wonder Whys will be supported The Happy Mondays on selected dates.
